CALL FOR BOARD MEMBERS

We are actively seeking dance enthusiasts from all sectors to expand our Board

and the operations of the Council.  

The Maryland Council for Dance is an educational and service corporation serving Maryland and surrounding areas since 1973 and supported by membership fees and public support.  Since its inception, the Council has held workshops, scholarship auditions, performances, presented numerous awards, hosted over 40 State Dance Festivals, and has worked to promote all forms of dance as an artform throughout the State.

Mission Statement:

The Maryland Council for Dance strives to understand, support, and serve the needs of our community by actively engaging and amplifying the contributions of the eclectic and diverse voices and work of the dance artists, scholars, educators, students, and enthusiasts in our region. We recognize that diversity is not limited to race, ethnicity, and gender, but also includes research interests, area of focus, interdisciplinary background, ability, and life experience. It is through this alliance that we seek to promote and advance accessibility and engagement with dance scholarship, education, artistic development, and performance across all communities in our state.

 

Call For Board Members:

 

To achieve our mission we are looking for:

  • dance professionals in the areas of Private Dance Studios, K-12, Higher Education, Professional Performance/Choreography
  • student representatives pursuing a degree in dance
  • dance enthusiasts that are working or retired professionals in dance-adjacent fields
  • dance enthusiasts that are working or retired professionals in fields of business, law, accounting, and similar non-dance sectors 


To nominate a colleague or yourself for consideration, please submit:

  • professional resume or CV
  • references with email and phone
  • brief statement as to why you are nominating this person, or if nominating self, why you would like to be a part of the Board
