Scholarship Auditions

Annually, the MD Council for Dance awards thousands of dollars of scholarship opportunities to dancers from across the mid-Atlantic region.  Scholarship auditions are held Friday evening of our Festival weekend.  Current student membership and registration for the full Festival weekend are required for participation in the Scholarship Auditions.  Separate Tap Scholarship Auditions (with the same requirments) are held Sunday morning.

We are always seeking quality scholarship opportunities to provide to our participants.

To become a donor, please contact Board Secretary, Barclay Gibbs

Previous awards have included summer intensives, workshops, class cards, and private coaching from many generous donors including:

Ballet Theatre of Maryland
Ballet Chesapeake
Ballet Nouveau
Delaware Arts Conservatory
Project C Studios
Anne Arundel Community College
Artistry Unleashed Winter Workshop
Divine Dance Institute
Kinetics Dance Theatre
Maryland Youth Ballet
Washington School of Ballet

Additionally, cash awards (for study at the school of their choice) are given to top scorers in their age categories, as follows:

$250 Overall High Scorer (across all age groups)

$125 1st place (one award per age group)
$100 2nd place (one award per age group)
$75 3rd place (one award per age group)

The Scholarship Auditions are a formal audition process.  Registrants are divided into age categories, with a maximum of 40 per group. Spaces are filled on a first-come, first serve basis, with audition numbers assigned randomly.  Adjudication panels are comprised of objective dance professionals from around the state.  Auditionees participate in sections of ballet, jazz, and modern dance, and are rated on their technique, alignment, and performance quality.

*New TAP SCHOLARSHIPS* ~ For 2019, we are again offering separate Tap Scholarship Auditions on Sunday morning. Dancers will be split into two age groups, 10-14, and 15-22. Auditions will be Sunday, October 13th, during the morning class time slots. Cash scholarships will be awarded to the top 3 scorers in each age group, and special scholarships to tap intensives/workshops will be available. Spaces will be limited to 40 dancers per age group.
